Overview

This Higher vehicle damage assessor apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 4, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 18/04/2019 and typically takes 36 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship is based within the Automotive Bodyshop Industry, and can be found in small, medium and large businesses.

This role involves the inspection and assessment of a motor vehicle that has been damaged and need repairing. You will learn how to identify and record damage on a vehicle and then decide which parts need to be replaced or repaired.

You will gain an understanding of assessing and estimating the cost of a vehicle repair, using electronic estimating software to guide you. This role will require knowledge of petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles, making sure you are up to date with technological safety developments and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

Your duties will include producing specifications that are accurate and detailed to be used when carrying out the repair process, alongside providing an estimated timescale and cost for the work to be completed.

Due to the nature of the role you will interact with customers, vehicle repairs technicians, bodyshop manager, admin and office staff as well as insurance companies. You will be required to work independently but liaise with customers, vehicle technicians and insurance companies to discuss the damage and how it will be repaired.
