Overview

This Advanced vehicle damage panel technician apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 22/03/2019 and typically takes 36 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

By working both independently and as part of a wider team of industry professionals, this apprenticeship standard will provide you with the required experience and skills to become a qualified Vehicle Damage Panel technician.

In this role, you will use your expert knowledge and understanding of vehicle chassis, body alignment and steering geometry to identify the various body panel types and carry out repair and replacement work on a range of vehicles in line with customer needs and manufacturers specifications. You will learn how to anticipate problems and rectify faults in the vehicle bodywork.

This apprenticeship will teach you how to perform suitable preparation work by measuring parts of the vehicle body and identifying the correct materials to be used, and how to interpret technical data to ensure joints are aligned correctly. You will use joining technology to remove and re-install body panels and other components of the vehicle safely and efficiently, using a range of tools and equipment such as spot welders and brazing tools, within the health and safety requirements of the workshop and wider body repair industry.
