Overview

This Intermediate beauty and make up consultant apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 2, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 07/12/2018 and typically takes 12 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Alongside achieving an industry-recognised qualification for Beauty Professionals, the Beauty and make-up consultant apprenticeship will provide you with experience working in a retail setting offering your advice and demonstrating a range of beauty products, including make-up, perfumes, skincare and nail care. You will also recommend the use of facial and hair treatments and promote their benefits as you maintain a professional demeanour at all times.

During the apprenticeship, you will develop your knowledge of the wider beauty therapy industry and learn the skills and knowledge to understand your customer’s needs, highlighting the appropriate products, tools and procedures to choose as the best course of action to improve their image. You will recognise organisational culture, customs and regulations within customer services, promoting diplomatic correctness and etiquette when dealing with all clients.

You will also learn about safe working practices, meeting the legal requirements including maintaining hygiene policies and manufacturer’s instructions to minimise the risk of cross-infection or discomfort caused by some products, and undertake promotional activities to boost sales and drive up profits where appropriate.
