Overview
The pharmacy technician (integrated) was approved for delivery on 03/07/2019. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 24 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
The role of a Pharmacy Technician is to manage the supply of medicines and devices and assist pharmacists with advisory services. Typical duties include supplying medicines to patients on prescription or over the counter, assemble medicine packages for prescriptions and providing information to patients and other healthcare professionals. You will develop strong customer service skills, and may answer customers questions face to face or by phone.
Pharmacy technicians are registered professionals working within the regulatory standards set by the General Pharmaceutical Council. You could work in a wide range of settings, including registered pharmacies, community services, prisons, GP practices, care homes and hospitals.
This apprenticeship standard will enable apprentices to successfully carry out both routine and specialist services, including highly complex activities which may require professional judgement. You will work with minimum supervision and a high degree of autonomy, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work.
