Social Worker (Degree)

Overview

Approved for delivery on the 30/11/2018, the social worker (degree), Degree apprenticeship standard provides a level 6, integrated degree upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship will involve working in partnership with adults, children, carers and families in a range of different situations. Your goal will be to support and promote positive changes in people’s lives to improve wellbeing.

You will build relationships with communities, individuals and other professionals and agencies to help assess and evaluate complex situations. You must adhere to Social Work legislations and make decisions in line with the professional code of ethics.

This apprenticeship will equip you with the knowledge and skills to protect individuals from abuse, harm, exploitation and negligence. You will need to be compassionate and take the time to listen to the individual’s life as their voice is central to any decision making. Your professional expertise will allow you to assess, plan and intervene in any concerning situation you see fit.

You will be responsible for the continuation of your own professional development and be expected to demonstrate a level of leadership with whatever role you are in. Importantly, all social workers have to register with the professional regulator and follow the professional standards that are put in place.
