Digital Marketing Apprenticeship
Looking to launch your digital marketing career? A digital marketing apprenticeship could be the ideal way to gain hands-on experience and kickstart your job prospects. Read on to find out more.
What is a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship?
A Level 3 Advanced Digital Marketing Apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that combines on-the-job experience with classroom learning (off-the-job training) to help people gain skills and knowledge in various areas of digital marketing.
Digital Marketing apprenticeships typically last 18 months (not including the End Point Assessment) and lead to a nationally recognised qualification in digital marketing. Apprentices split their time between working at a company doing real digital marketing tasks (80%) and attending classes to supplement their practical experience with theory and instruction (20%).
You can expect to cover common digital marketing disciplines including search engine optimisation (SEO), paid search/PPC, social media marketing, email marketing, web analytics, and more.
What are the Benefits of a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship?
There are many practical benefits that a digital marketing apprenticeship can offer. They include:
- Earn while you learn – Apprentices earn a wage while they are training, so you can earn an income while building your marketing skills. As of April 2023, the national minimum wage for an apprentice starts at £5.28 per hour and will increase as you progress. For more information, visit the gov.uk website.
- No student debt – Unlike university degrees, tuition for apprenticeships is usually free or highly subsidised by the government. This means getting an education and training without taking on student loans or debt.
- Potential job offer – Many employers choose to hire their apprentices in a permanent role once the apprenticeship is complete providing a potential pathway to a full-time job.
Am I Suitable for a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship?
If you’re considering a digital marketing apprenticeship, it’s wise to think about whether it’s a good fit for you. First things first – how passionate are you about digital marketing? A true interest in the field will keep you motivated when the going gets tough during your training.
Next, take a realistic look at your current skills and experience. While you may not need direct experience to start an apprenticeship, having some basic digital marketing knowledge under your belt can give you a leg up. There are lots of free online resources that can help you gain some basic skills and experience in digital marketing.
Finally, carefully review the requirements for any apprenticeship you’re interested in to make sure you’re a good match. You can then tailor your application to show them why you’re well suited for the programme.
