Photography Apprenticeships
If you have always been interested in the art of photography, this apprenticeship may be the one that you have been waiting for. The apprenticeship itself is for a Photographic Assistant and this means that you will be learning how to set up the studio for different types of shoots. You will be working closely with the photographer to ensure that the conditions are perfect for the shoot that they want to undertake.
What is a Photography Apprenticeship?
You will most likely be working directly with a professional photographer and it will be your job to learn from them how best to operate in one of two different roles, either assistant photographer or photographic technician. You will learn both sets of skills until the point that you have to choose to specialise and then you can decide which role would suit you the best.
What Are the Benefits of a Photography Apprenticeship?
You will learn about the intricacies of the photographic industry and learn how to make money taking photos and selling them to professional publications for use, You will make an extensive range of contacts and you may also be enhancing your own photography portfolio alongside the apprenticeship and applying the skills that you have been learning.
What does a Photography Apprenticeship Involve?
As with other UK apprenticeship standards there is the mandatory 80% on-the-job training with your mentor at the company. The other 20% of off-the-job training will focus on the academic areas attached to your apprenticeship. You will have to complete an End Point Assessment at the end of your apprenticeship in order for it to be deemed to have been successfully completed.
Am I Suitable for a Photography Apprenticeship?
Having a calm stillness to you is something that is a frequent attribute of successful photographers. Being able to keep calm and still for a long time while just changing one or two small variables to get the best possible shot ,can be hard for some people, and longer for those who are waiting for them to do it. Patience is a real key quality for this job, as is a steady hand, although the image stabilisers on most modern cameras can accommodate a lot.
